++ ARC 40K NEWS ++

18 January 2010:

We have finalised our prize list. First player wins a mint copy of Space Hulk!

We have also clarified which armies are eligible for awards. In many cases, if the army has won an award at a previous Arc, it cannot win again. See the Prizes page for details.

17 January 2010:

One week to go!

We have adjusted the registered list and reserve list - over 30 players failed to send lists, and a few more have dropped out all together; the near-final player list is now here:
Player list on WargamerAU

Please check, and if your details are incorrect, let us know.

10 January 2010:

The army list deadline has passed. Thanks to all who got your lists in on time. We'll be adjusting the reserve list shortly so that players who did not submit a list will fall to the bottom, and we will cancel any entries without lists on Sunday 17 Jan. So, if you are running late, but still want to play, get your list in this week.

6 January 2010:

We've been mission testing. And, they rock! (Except for the one that sucked, but we rewrote that. Note to aspiring mission designers: Never give a Blood Thirster feel no pain.)

31 December 2009:

This may be our best ever year for sponsorship. Thanks to THQ, we will have copies of Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising to give away (the games will be shipped to you on release date, in March), as well as copies of the new Vigil Studios game Darksiders for X360/PS3 (release date 7 Jan).

For some footage of the games in action, check out the Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising trailer and the Darksiders trailer.

While we're talking sponsorship, check out the fully revised Prizes page. Wait until you see the sweet trophies that Stewarts Trophies has cooked up!

30 December 2009:

Here's a sneak preview of the brand spankin' Fez Skull dice - we're minting them in mother-of-pearl/black and fire/black. You can load up on these babies at a buck apiece, available in singles or in a snazzy cube o' 12. You can reserve some now via your AON account - log in and hit up the "Edit Merchandise" link on the left sidebar.

Those fine folks at Adepticon have updated the Independent National Warhammer 40,000 FAQ 3.1 - this is our default FAQ for rules and codex questions.

We have added a list of terrain bringers over at WargamerAU - if you can supply 6x4 of quality terrain, please contact us.

22 December 2009:

The first email bulletin has gone out - if you did not receive it, you can read it here.
Here's one of the news highlights:

Lightning Arc is a one-day mini-tournament being held on Sunday 10 January at Games Workshop's new Battle Bunker in Camberwell (752 Burke Rd, 2 mins walk up the hill from Camberwell Station). Entry is free, with 24 places available. Players will play 3 games at 1200pts, making it ideal practice for Arc 40K. Contact Dan at the store for more details:

21 December 2009:

Back-2-Base-ix have confirmed that they will have a display stand at Arc this year. Veterans will remember Aaron's visit in 2007. This year should be even cooler, as B2B are are expanding to include markers and magnetic flight stands - check out their site! Here's a sample of the new coolness:

Come one, come all: We're keen to invite visitors this year, so please spread the word. Entry is only $2, and there will be tons of cool 40K stuff to check out. You can help us even more by printing out our poster and putting it up in your favourite game store.

8 December 2009:

The list of registered and reserve players is now updated for the full 200 places.

2 December 2009:

Hang on to your hats: we're taking this baby to 200 players! Updated player list will be published shortly.

We have some army lists already, which is great; however, to get full points for correct list, you must email it to the correct address, remember to include your theme summary within the spreadsheet, and rename the default filename to your own details. Alas, if you miss any of these details, you're down 5 points! See Selection for more info.

And finally, check out page 108 in WD 360 (Dec) for a sneak peek at the new Fez army!

14 November 2009:

The list of registered and reserve players is now online at WargamerAU.
Thanks to Ghetti for his sterling work in maintaining this.

If you are not currently in the 150 reserved places, keep hoping and take heart:

1. We will add more tables if we can get space at the venue
2. Many players always drop out before the day, some even on the day

The Selection page is now updated with a handy graphic to show you the tab on the Excel spreadsheet to use for your Theme Summary. If you cannot see any tabs, it may be a display issue; type "Where are my worksheet tabs" into help.

The release date for Codex Tyranids 2010 is now 16 January 2010, which is closer to the convention than we had anticipated. Sorry, this Codex will not be used at Arc this year.

5 November 2009:

We've set another record, with well over 200 players signing up on our first day. We will publish the list of registered players and reserve players shortly. Reserve players, keep your chin up; we always have drop outs, so many of you will get to play.

The army list spreadsheet has been fully updated with a sample army list and theme summary, the Renegades of the Fez. That's right... for the 13th Arcanacon crusade, we have a new gumby army! When you are submitting your lists, please use the Theme tab on the spreadsheet to include your background essay; do not send us a separate background document.

1 November 2009:

Registration is now open!

This it, folks... we'll be back.

31 October 2009:

Registration will opens tomorrow at midday!

All players are advised that we have raised the minimum age for the competition to 15 years and older. Younger players are welcome to attend as visitors.

29 October 2009:

We've had a facelift for our 13th Arcanacon 40K. Behold, the fez skull!
(Many thanks to WATT old skooler Drew for our cracking new logo.)

New pages on the site include the special events roundup, and the skulls of the Arcanacon champions.

Registration will be open at midday on Sunday 1 November. Note that we have a price rise this year to cover mounting costs; the tournament will cost $60. This is a 'Get Wrecked' fee at Arcanacon, and as such gives you free entry to any other event (such as the Space Hulk on Monday!).

7 October 2009:

We have a new sponsor! Battlefoam have come on board to sponsor the Space Hulk competition. Their foam trays are top ace, check out their site!

And the rules page has been updated again. Codex Kroot is no longer legal. Somewhere in a swamp, a gnarloc is weeping.

Finally, the Selection criteria have been overhauled for 2010. We strongly recommend that all players have a careful look at this.

27 September 2009:

The rules page has been updated again. Daemonhunter and Witch Hunter allies are now legal. As you were, citizens!

24 September 2009:

The rules page now has the list of legal armies for 2010. Note that unlike previous years, Imperial Armour models are not permitted except where part of an Imperial Armour list.

16 September 2009:

How has your 2009 tournament season been going? You can find out now by comparing with other players in the Melbourne 40K Championship ranking. All details and rankings are here:

25 August 2009:

The dates for the 2010 convention have been confirmed. Arcanacon will run from Saturday 23 January to Tuesday 26 January 2010 (the public holiday), with the 40K event taking place on Saturday & Sunday. So, book yourself some leave on the Monday, and have a two-day recovery period! Registration will open at midday on Sunday 1 November, and all places are expected to fill on that day; however, as always we will keep a reserve list. Armies will be 1200 pts as always, so start planning and painting now!

31 May 2009:

We have a new mailing list! The Arc40k mailing list goes out once a month, bringing you updates on all Melbourne 40K events, and also ongoing information about next year's Arcanacon. We have added all 2008 and 2009 players to our subscription base. If you'd like to subscribe, or unsubscribe, go here:

26 April 2009:

While you're waiting for Arc 2010, keep your skills sharpened at one of the many excellent 40K tournaments taking place this year - it's a bumper crop, there are some cool new events, and the established ones just keep getting better. Check the Melbourne 40K Calendar for all the details:

26 January 2009:
The last dice has been rolled, the last Kroot has been buried... Arcanacon 2009 is over!

Congratulations to our returning champion Leigh Tresidder, for sailing his orky pirates to victory; and huge thanks to all players for coming together for a fine weekend and smashing the Australian record for a single GW tournament event: 153 players!

The 2009 Missions are now online in PDF format.

The dates for Arc 40K 2010 are the weekend of 23 & 24 January.

Visit WargamerAU for lots of post-con discussion, feedback, and more.
