ARC 40K NEWS ++
26 January 2009:
The last dice has been rolled, the last Kroot has been
buried... Arcanacon 2009 is over!
Congratulations to our returning
champion Leigh Tresidder, for sailing his orky pirates to
victory; and huge thanks to all players for coming together for
a fine weekend and smashing the Australian record for a single
GW tournament event: 153 players!
The
2009 Missions are
now online in PDF format.
The dates for Arc 40K 2010 are
the weekend of 23 & 24 January.
Visit
WargamerAU for lots of post-con discussion, feedback, and
more.
10 December 2008:
Check out our awesome full-page ad in the December White Dwarf!
(WD348). It's great to see Syd the Arcanasaur making his WD
debut, and soon you'll be able to get him on a dice as well.
We've just sent out the first
email bulletin to all registered players - if you didn't receive
it, please check your email details in AON.
Meanwhile, all of the 2009
missions have been written, proof-read, revised, and are now
being playtested. We're on track. How about your painting
schedule, hmmm?
25 November 2008:
The website is now entirely up to date. Please pay particular
attention to the Rules,
Battle, Painting,
Selection and
Sports pages.
A lot of people have been asking
about mission specific models this year: it's the same as 2008,
namely three objectives (one max base 60mm, two max base 40mm),
plus three basic troop models (in addition to those in your
force).
21 November 2008:
Registration is now open! For details on how to sign up, see our
Register page.
9 November 2008:
Another week has gone past. How much painting did you get
done?
We've changed up the "Best Team"
award for this year; instead of private teams, we are putting
all of you into ten massive teams together! Instead of "Best
Team" we are having "Best Race" - so it's on for young and old,
with Marines vs. Guard vs. Chaos vs. Orks vs. you get the idea
already. We'll be taking the average scores of the top three
players for each force, and picking the 40K race that conquers
Arcanacon! One random lucky player of that side will win the
prize.
Our "Best Club" prize will be
unchanged though, for all public clubs. Will upstarts WGoL
retain the crown, or will their arch rivals Monash roll them.
Will there ever be peace between GROTS and Ringwood? And what
about the new force, the Outpost? Bring it!
2 November 2008:
Our registration will be going live within the next few
weeks - stay tuned for an announcement! Most details around the
site are now up to date, but feel free to fire any particular
questions at us if something is not covered. One change to note
for this year is that we have raised our entry fee to $50, so
that we can increase the quality of the event. Your entry fee
includes free entry to the Saturday night Apocalypse bash, which
will have trophies and prizes.
We're pleased to announce our
special guest for 2009: Matt Weaver will be joining us from
Australian White Dwarf. We are also delighted to say that we are
a Games Workshop Premier Event, and so will be offering $2,000
in GW vouchers as prizes - plus, many more prizes from our other
fabulous sponsors.
In addition to our usual friends,
we have two brand new sponsors for
this year: local figure company
Eureka
Miniatures are providing prize support and we will have some
of their wares to sell, and ace new Croydon hobby store
Realm of Legends are also on board.
So, is it too early to say...
biggest Arc 40K ever?
3 August 2008:
We're back! Did ya miss us? War All The Time have started
work on bringing you another kick arse instalment of Arcanacon
40k. We'd say bigger than ever, but well, it's already plenty
big! But, this year we hope to finally crack the elusive 150
player barrier, so start planning your armies and recruiting
your mates now! We've started updating the site, so keep an eye
on it over the next few months as we finalise the details.
Thanks to all who made 2008 such
a fantastic time, and congratulations again to the winner Brad
Morin - the only person to have won Arc 40K twice!
